Former Indian cricketer Farveez Maharoof on Sunday (1st October) picked his semi-finalists for the ICC World Cup 2023. He also added that the Player of the Tournament will be from either India or England.
Farveez Maharoof backed India, England, and Australia as the sure-shot picks for the semi-finalists. He, however, was confused about the last spot, saying that one among South Africa, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka would make it into the top four teams. Speaking to ANI, he explained:
“For me, four semi-finalists would be India, England, Australia. For the fourth spot, I will probably say that three teams will fight it out for one spot that will be South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka. The best Player would be from either India or England.”
The ICC World Cup 2023 will begin from 5th October in India. The teams have started putting in hard yards and are leaving no stone unturned in the warmup games.
With teams playing attacking cricket all around, it’s fair to say that there will be no favorites for this team. All the 10 teams have played a staggering brand over the last few years and it promises to be an enthralling contest.

Farveez Maharoof has picked young batter Shubman Gill as the player to watch out for in the ICC World Cup 2023. He believes that opener is taking the baton from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
“It is going to be a very interesting World Cup. It’s going to be very competitive. Some teams are in really good forms and good combinations. Every country has their own star. Shubman Gill has been scoring a lot of runs. It will be a perfect opportunity for a young player like him who has been doing really well for India for the past two to three years.”
“It will be a breakthrough tournament as he is taking the baton from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli who have done a wonderful job for India for such a long time. For me Shubman Gill will be someone to look out for.”
India will open their campaign against Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on October 8.
