ICC World Cup Points Table 2023: Updated Standings, Most Runs, Most Wickets After PAK vs NED Match 2: Match No.2 of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 was played between Babar Azam-led Pakistan National Cricket Team and Scott Edwards-led Netherlands National Cricket Team on Friday, October 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Opting to bowl first in the match, the Dutch were off to a brilliant start as they didn’t let the famed Pakistan top-order consisting of Imam-ul-Haq, Fakhar Zaman, and Babar Azam fire at the start.

Pakistan looked down and out at 38/3 and that’s when the wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan joined forces with Saud Shakeel to lead Pakistan to recovery. The duo looked solid out in the middle and they took the Dutch bowlers to the cleaners. Saud played the role of the aggressor and allowed Rizwan to play his natural game.

The duo brought back the momentum towards the Men In Green and their counterattack knock helped the side cross the 150-run mark. Aryan Dutt finally broke the partnership between the batters as he cleaned up Saud to end the 120-run stand.

Soon Rizwan and Iftikhar were back in the dugout and Babar Azam & Co. were once again in trouble at 188/6. This time all-rounders Shadab Khan and Mohammad Nawaz steadied the ship with their 64-run partnership.

In the end, Pakistan posted 286 runs on the board, with the help of brilliant half-centuries from Saud and Rizwan and good 30s from Nawaz and Shadab.

Bas de Leede shined bright with the ball for the Dutch as he bagged a sensational four-wicket haul. Also, Colin Ackermann picked two wickets while Paul van Meekeren, Logan van Beek, and Aryan Dutt got one wicket each.

Chasing the 287-run target, openers Max O’Dowd and Vikramjit Singh batted cautiously and added 28 runs for the first wicket. Then, Ackermann joined Vikramjit Singh in the middle and together they added 22 runs for the second wicket.

After two small partnerships, Vikramjit and De Leede built a big 70-run partnership to push the Men In Green on the back foot. However, after the dismissal of Vikramjit, Bas de Leede was left alone as the Netherlands lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually got bundled out for 205 in 41 overs. Pakistan won the match by 81 runs to keep their record intact of not losing a World Cup game after scoring 275.

Pacers Haris Rauf and Hasan Ali bowled really well and shared 5 wickets between them while the rest of the wickets were bagged by Shaheen Afridi, Iftikhar Ahmed Mohammad Nawaz, and Shadab Khan.
