Australian Cricket recently was marred with an eye-catching controversy as two greats of the nation were involved in it. Johnson didn’t go easy on veteran opener David Warner, who will be retiring from Test cricket after the upcoming series against Pakistan.
In his column for West Australian, Mitchell Johnson hit out at veteran opener David Warner, saying that he doesn’t deserve a hero send-off as he was part of the sandpapergate scandal. He stated that a non-performing Test opener shouldn’t get to decide when he will end his career.
This raises quite a few eyebrows as many experts and fans wondered by Mitchell Johnson made such comments. Chief selector George Bailey interrupted too and said that the former pacer might not be in a good mental space when he made such comments. However, the left-arm pacer bashed him as well for his comments over his mental health.
Steve Waugh gave his take on the tiff between Mitchell Johnson and David Warner and stated that they both are entitled to their opinion. Speaking to The Sydney Morning Herald, he explained:
“Should be able to sort it out. They are both adults who are entitled to their opinions and should be able to handle criticism.”

Former Australian cricketer Brad Haddin also shared his verdict on the tiff between Mitchell Johnson and David Warner recently. He said that he never saw any beef between the two greats of Australian cricket and the former’s comment came as a surprise for him.
He was surprised by Mitchell Johnson’s statement and said that David Warner and Johnson have had great memories playing together. Speaking to Fox Cricket, he explained:
“I have played with both Mitch (Johnson) and Dave (Warner) and they have won World Cups together, they have won Ashes together, they have gone through some tough conditions side by side. I have never seen any beef between them. So from my point of view, I am a bit lost by where it came from between those two.”
