The Bihar Cricket Association (BCA) has opened up about the fiasco of two teams reaching the stadium to play the Ranji Trophy 2023 game against Mumbai. District representative Om Prakash Jaiswal said that the former secretary tried to create the problem and formed a fake team.
One of the most bizarre incidents in the Ranji Trophy took place ahead of the ongoing game between Bihar and Mumbai. Two teams from Bihar made their appearance on the ground. It created a lot of fuss but ultimately team that was official took part.
One team that to play was named by the BCA whereas the other team was announced by the former secretary Amit Kumar. He had some issues with BCA for the last two years and reportedly he formed a fake take and also attacked the official outside the stadium.
Om Prakash Jaiswal confirmed that Amit Kumar formed a fake team and was elated that BCCI gave permission to play the original team. He also revealed that the other team tried to create problems for security. Speaking to ANI, he explained:
“BCCI gave permission to play Bihar’s original team. This incident happened, it was outside the stadium. A fake team was formed by the previous secretary Amit Kumar. And they tried to create a problem but our security stopped everything. And the original team of Bihar is playing the match with Mumbai.”
BCA CEO Manish Raj also talked about the two teams turning up for the game, saying that people are trying to create a dispute. He highlighted how the original Bihar team is performing well against the powerhouse Mumbai team. He explained:
“People tried to create a dispute. Now the original team is playing in front of you, Bihar has shown good performance. Taking 9 wickets against a team like Mumbai on day one is a historic moment for Bihar. It’s been many years since Bihar has participated in the elite group. And that too against champion Mumbai, who have been winners for many years. It was shocking that someone else was claiming to be the secretary when we already have the original one.”

Apart from the two teams’ saga, there was also a video that surfaced on the internet, showing the poor condition of the ground. In the clip that went viral on the internet, there was garbage on the outskirts of Patna’s Moin-ul-Haq Stadium.
BCA CEO Manish Raj also talked about the stadium, saying that it was the exterior of the stadium is destroyed but the ground is very good. He also revealed that match officials appreciated them for the ground. He explained:
“The ground of the stadium is up to the mark and that is why elite group matches are being held here. As for its exterior, it is already destroyed. Regarding the ground, I can say that it is a very good ground. Even the match referee appreciated it. BCCI has enabled us to build our own stadium. We are already searching for the land, if the work of the land is being completed then you will get to see BCA’s own stadium. With the limited resources we have done what we could.”
Coming to the game between Bihar and Mumbai, the hosts won the toss and produced a great performance with the ball. They bundled out opposition for just 251 runs but with the bat, they didn’t have a great outing. At stumps on Day 2, Bihar were 89/6.
