“He told me…” – Yashasvi Jaiswal opens up on his conversation with Sachin Tendulkar after double century vs England

While Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah won the Player of the Match award in the second Test match against England, young Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal also had a major role in India’s win. Jaiswal slammed a brilliant double century in the first innings of the match and played an innings of 209 runs from 290 balls. Jaiswal was never uncomfortable with his shot selection and played some glorious strokes during his time at the crease.

While speaking to Jio Cinema, Yashasvi Jaiswal opened up about the chat he had with his cricketing idol and Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar. Jaiswal said he spoke to Sachin after his iconic knock. Jaiswal said that Sachin congratulated him and suggested him to continue working hard as this is a very important time. Jaiswal added that he continues to admire Sachin Tendulkar as his idol.

Yashasvi Jaiswal considers Sachin Tendulkar as his idol

Yashasvi Jaiswal said on Sports18, “I have spoken with Sachin sir. He congratulated me and told me to continue working hard as this is a very important time. Consistency is very important. I’ll always admire him as my idol.”

No other Indian batsman apart from Yashasvi Jaiswal was able to showcase his batting talent on the crease in the first innings. Every batsman got out scoring 20 to 40 odd runs and was dismissed cheaply. The major part of India’s first innings total of 396 runs came from Jaiswal’s bat otherwise the team would have landed below 250 runs.

Yashasvi Jaiswal played the best innings of his international career till now and never hesitates from hitting big shots. Jaiswal likes to play aggressively and is one of the best young batsmen of the current time. Jaiswal will look forward to continuing the same in the upcoming games and also become the reason behind India’s victory.

After winning the second Test match, India would be aiming to continue their momentum in the upcoming matches and win the series. India moved to the second spot in the World Test Championship 2023-25 standings and were able to recover from the damage they faced after losing the first game.

However, despite the win everything is not right in the Indian dressing room. The batsmen have not been able to bat as per their full potential due to which the team has had to face batting collapses. The major reason behind the same can be considered the absence of Virat Kohli and KL Rahul.

Both the batsmen are like the backbone of the middle order, and due to their inexperience, the team is facing a tough time in the batting department.

The third Test match is set to begin on February 15 at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot. The Indian team will want to continue the winning momentum whereas England as well will like to continue the way they have played so far in the series.

The pitches have been more helpful for the batsmen in the first two Tests, however, the Hyderabad surface had a bit of help for the spinners on Day 3 and 4. The Rajkot pitch is said to be effective for the batsmen and it looks like it will be a high-scoring match.
