India National Cricket Team batting sensation Yashasvi Jaiswal recently showered high praise on his captain Rohit Sharma and spoke about the latter’s presence in the Indian dressing room.
Jaiswal has been in red-hot form since making his international debut for India National Cricket Team. The left-handed opening batsman has set the stage on fire in T20I and Test cricket and has made himself a permanent member of the team. He is yet to make his ODI debut for the team, but that will also happen soon considering his performances at the international stage.
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s most recent assignment for India National Cricket Team was against England National Cricket Team in the home five-match Test series. The 22-year-old impressed everyone with his performances in the series as he was highly consistent and played a key role in India’s dominant wins.
Jaiswal finished the series with 712 runs in his bag in 9 innings. He smashed two double centuries in the series and averaged 89 with the bat, which speaks volumes of his talent.
Yashasvi Jaiswal will now shift his focus towards the shorter format of cricket as he is set to represent the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. His form will be crucial for the Sanju Samson-led team’s success in the competition. Before the IPL 2024, he spoke to the Indian Express and talked about several topics with one being related to Rohit Sharma.

‘Rohit keeps saying in the media that ‘let Jaiswal be, let him score’ as if he doesn’t want to put any nazar on you by saying you are doing great. How is he in the dressing room with you?” the interviewer asked Yashasvi Jaiswal.
The young batsman responded that having Rohit Sharma in the dressing room and playing under him has been a great feeling. He showered rich praise on Rohit’s leadership and was thankful for his backing and support. Yashasvi Jaiswal, however, declined to reveal the dressing room moments with Rohit Sharma. He said:
“It’s so good to have him there inside the dressing room. It has been great to play under him. There are a lot of moments which I don’t want to disclose at the moment. Let it be with me. The way he backed players throughout this journey, the way he talks, the way he bats. Whatever happens, he will be there to stand by you. I think it’s incredible to see that in your leader. I will keep learning from him.”
Jaiswal was further asked about the incident from the Test series against England where the English spinners troubled him with full and outside-off deliveries before Rohit Sharma advised him to play straight, which benefitted him a lot.
The 22-year-old revealed that Rohit is just exceptional, he knows everything about the game and is on a different level.
“He came and told me that in that moment that shot is not on, it will be better to hit straight. So I was trying to hit straight. I must tell you nothing misses his eyes. He knows everything. That is the biggest quality. He is aware of things and what is going on. Alag level hai, it’s so fun to be around him,” Yashasvi said.
