Watch: Virat Kohli apologizes to fans after turning down their 'bowling' request during MI vs RCB game

Virat Kohli

It does not matter whether Virat Kohli plays in Bengaluru or in any other city during the IPL, he always receives the love of the fans. The flag-bearer of Indian cricket for more than a decade now, the former India skipper is one of the most beloved cricketers in the country.

Unsurprisingly, even the fans of the opposition teams do not shy away from expressing their admiration for him during the IPL. And it was evident once again on Wednesday (April 11) when Royal Challengers Bengaluru locked horns against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

While the fans would have liked to see a good knock from Virat Kohli, they were left disappointed as he was out for just three runs. And later when he came out to the field, the fans came up with a request for the batting superstar. The fans were heard shouting: "Kohli ko bowling do (give bowling to Kohli)."

Last year, the fans chanted this very line throughout the ODI World Cup and Virat Kohli finally obliged by bowling three overs in India's last league game against the Netherlands in Bengaluru. However, the 35-year-old did not oblige this time and apologized to the fans by holding his ears.

Watch as Virat Kohli reacts to the fans' chants:

Talking about the game, RCB finished their innings on 196/8 in the allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first. The three-time finalists were off to a poor start as they lost the wickets of Virat Kohli and Will Jacks inside the powerplay. However, half-centuries from Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar, and Dinesh Karthik took them to the big total.

It is also the first time that RCB have touched the 190-run mark this season. In reply, MI were on 169 for 2 in just 13 overs at the time of writing this report. Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav were batting for the home side.
