Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif made a massive statement on Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. He said that the tournament would be the last chance for the two greats of the game to have their shot at the title.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been the backbone of Team India for more than the last decade. The duo has taken the team to great heights in all three formats of the game and has achieved almost everything in their career, scoring truckloads of runs for the team together.

However, both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli would want to add the World Cup to their kitty. Both the stalwarts of Team India have faced quite a few heartbreaks together and would be hoping to change the fortunes around and lift the trophy together.

The upcoming T20 World Cup 2024 will be a huge opportunity for them to lift the title together. The last time India lifted the ICC trophy was in 2013 when they won the Champions Trophy. At that time both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were youngsters.

However, now a decade later, when both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have developed themselves into the greats of the game, they would be keen to lift the title. The T20 World Cup 2024 will begin from 1st June and it’ll be a massive opportunity to end the title drought.

Mohammad Kaif stated that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli know that they won’t be playing for long. Therefore it will be the last chance for the duo to win big. He also highlighted how they lost the ICC World Cup 2023 at home. Speaking to Star Sports, he explained:

“Rohit Sharma knows he isn't going to play for too long now. Just two to three years more. Same with Virat Kohli. So this is the last chance for Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

“They lost the World Cup final in Ahmedabad. They played as if they had the cup snatched away from them. Hearts were broken and fans were devastated."

That's the biggest test for Rohit Sharma - Mohammad Kaif in the semi-finals and final

Mohammad Kaif further pointed out that India will be making it into the big stages because they don’t have competition in the group stages. He expressed his concerns saying that India needs to be ready for the big games. He added:

“India hardly have competition in the group stage. There are only two main matches - the semi-final and the final. Are you ready for those two days? That's the biggest test for Rohit Sharma.”

India will be playing their warmup game on 1st June against Bangladesh. They will open their campaign against Ireland on 5th June in the T20 World Cup 2024. After that the biggest clash awaits for them as they will be taking on Pakistan. The match will be played on 9th June in New York.
