IND vs USA: "Please come to bat at No.3" - Twitter reacts as Virat Kohli's horror run in T20 World Cup 2024 continues

Virat Kohli

Virat Kohli's disastrous display with the bat in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 was extended by one more game as he was out for a duck in the ongoing game between USA and India at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

The former India skipper came into the World Cup on the back of a stunning campaign in IPL 2024. He created history by becoming the first-ever Indian player to finish an IPL season as the highest run-scorer twice. In a campaign where no other batters could even touch the 600-run mark, he scored a staggering 741 runs with the help of one century and five half-centuries.

Virat Kohli enjoyed a prolific campaign in the IPL while opening the innings. Following the success as an opener in the IPL, the batting superstar was given the chance to open the innings in the ongoing T20 World Cup as well. While Yashasvi Jaiswal was expected to open the innings with captain Rohit Sharma, the Indian team management decided to give the responsibility to Virat Kohli.

Virat Kohli's horror run continues:

However, Virat Kohli has failed to justify the decision so far. In the first game against Ireland, he was out for just 1 run off 5 balls as he threw his wicket away while trying to play a big shot. It was followed by another poor outing as he was out for 4 runs against Pakistan.

Kohli was expected to regain his best form against the USA. While USA are in good form at the moment, it was expected that he would be able to regain his form. However, Kohli suffered another failure with the bat and was out on the very first ball.

Left-arm pacer Saurabh Netravalkar made Kohli edge one behind the stumps where the wicketkeeper took an easy catch. As Kohli flopped with the bat again, the fans were quick to take shots at him.

Here are some of the reactions to Virat Kohli's failure with the bat:
