Mumbai disappointed Hardik Pandya? Star all-rounder delivers verdict on India's victory parade

Hardik Pandya

India vice-captain Hardik Pandya opened up about Team India’s victory parade in Mumbai after the T20 World Cup 2024 triumph. He said that seeing people’s hearts full of joy and happiness was the biggest joy for him.

India National Cricket Team scripted the history on 29th June as they became the third team in history to win the two T20 World Cup titles. They defeated South Africa in the final of the 2024 edition to win their first-ever ICC title since 2013.

India played a dominating brand of cricket throughout the T20 World Cup 2024. They won all the games in the tournament and made sure that they won the tournament undefeated, becoming the first team ever to achieve the feat.

One of the main reasons behind the win of Team India was the all-rounder Hardik Pandya. The India vice-captain was spot on with his batting and bowling throughout the tournament and he made vital contributions, scoring 144 runs and also picking 11 wickets.

After India reached home following the win in the T20 World Cup 2024, they had a victory parade in Mumbai. The entire city was on the streets as Marine Drive saw thousands of people celebrating with Team India and it was followed by a felicitation of players at Wankhede Stadium.

Hardik Pandya, who was part of the victory parade, talked about the celebrations on the streets of Mumbai. He recalled how he celebrated India’s win in 2011 on the streets and after decade later he is part of the team that won.

Hardik Pandya further stated that playing for India is the biggest thing for him and winning the World Cup is something that he will remember for the rest of his life. Speaking in a video posted by BCCI, he said:

“There will be some cold and cool pictures will be coming out. The iconic guy will be there."

"I must be on the roads because in 2011 I was on a road. I was doing the same, celebrating the same teams where they came and yeah for me it is more surreal that after 13 years the next trophy which we have got which I celebrated is I am part of that team and it's Bombay for me eventually where my journey started and yeah this will be more special getting the cup back home.

“And it's so many people's hearts full of joy and happiness. I don't think there is any bigger pleasure or blessing than this. For me playing for the country itself would have been a dream, a blessing, and so much more but you know I have been very fortunate enough to be part of something so amazing which I will remember for the rest of my life and at the same point of time everyone in this group.”

Mumbai did not disappoint. Mumbai was the best - Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya while talking about the victory parade of Team India, said that to give happiness to people is something that they worked hard for. He added that the Mumbai crowd didn’t disappoint them. He elaborated:

“That's what we work hard for. We work hard to be in this kind of situation and this kind of atmosphere that we can create and this kind of happiness that we can provide. Can't be more happy than finishing out all the formalities and all the celebrations in Mumbai. Mumbai did not disappoint. Mumbai was the best. Amchi Mumbai. Jai Hind.”
