Australia National Cricket Team pacer Sean Abbott grabbed a terrific flying catch to dismiss the England National Cricket Team batsman Liam Livingstone in the 36th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday, November 4.

Sean Abbott wasn’t part of the playing XI in the match against the Three Lions despite some of the key players being unavailable for selection. However, he was seen supporting his teammates on the field in the second innings and that was when his outrageous effort helped his team get rid of the dangerous English all-rounder Liam Livingstone.

Livingstone was back in the dugout after scoring just 2 runs off 5 balls as he was dismissed by Australian captain Pat Cummins on the last ball of the 37th over.

Cummins bowled a short ball to Livingstone who went for a pull shot. However, he wasn’t able to register a boundary as mid-wicket fielder Abbott moved smartly to his right, threw himself, and grabbed a two-handed flying catch.

In the end, the Australia National Cricket Team bundled out their arch-rivals England National Cricket Team for 253 to register a comprehensive win of 33 runs.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, the premier pacer Mitchell Starc said that they didn’t start well in the match against England but progressed well. He said:

“Keeps the momentum going. Not the best start but we have progressed nicely. We are going along nicely. They would probably claim a moral victory (smiles). They are the defending champions, we thought they would come aggressively at us.”

Mitchell Starc acknowledged the all-round performance of leg-spinner Adam Zampa and lauded him for his sensational performance. He elaborated:

“Was generally slow to start with. We didn’t really mention a par score. Zampa took the momentum away. A couple of wickets in the powerplay helped. Zampa has had a helluva day. Probably didn’t get it right the other night against NZ. Got a proper training session in.”
