Shreyas Iyer-led Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad to grab the IPL 2024 title. KKR were hungry for their third title since 2024 when they won the title under Gautam Gambhir. In IPL 2024, KKR reached the final but failed to win the trophy.
In IPL 2022, they named Shreyas Iyer as their skipper. He led the side in the season but KKR failed to reach the playoffs. He missed the previous season due to injury. However, with the addition of Gautam Gambhir as mentor and Shreyas Iyer as skipper, KKR chased their dream of winning another IPL title.
Jio Cinema shares the old post of Shreyas Iyer
Jio Cinema shared an old post of Shreyas Iyer in which he wrote about his exams in a post. During his graduation in May 2015, Iyer tweeted that he had not prepared for his exams. Jio Cinema shared the photo of the tweet and wrote, "Look what you have become champ". Have a look at the photo below.

We played like invincibles in IPL 2024: Shreyas Iyer
After winning the title, the KKR skipper said they played like invincibles. Notably, Kolkata Knight Riders lost just 3 games in IPL 2024 and topped the points table. For comparison, Gujarat Titans topped the points table in the last two seasons but had lost 4 games in each other.
“Absolutely comprehensive. This is what we demanded from the team and every individual. They stood up to the right occasion and the feeling is hard to express. It (wait) was so long, longer than the match”, he said.
“We played like invincibles throughout the season. There's so much to cherish right now. It is pleasing, the performance has been flawless throughout. I am running out of words right now. We have been tremendous from game one, we stepped up today”, he further said.
Lucky to bowl first in IPL 2024 final- Shreyas Iyer
Shreyas Iyer also said that he is lucky to bowl in IPL 2024 final. Chidambaram Stadium often supports teams batting first. Out of 6 games in the T20I international, teams batting first have won 5 matches at the stadium.
“All we demanded from ourselves was to back each other whatever the situation is. The game could have either way. They have been playing phenomenal cricket - SRH - throughout the season”.
“We were lucky to bowl first and every situation went in our favour. Thanks to SRH the way they played. Looking forward to play more competitive cricket. (On Starc) That's when all the big players stand up, right”, the KKR skipper said ahead of the season.
Meanwhile, the IPL 2024 is over and all Indian players will be next seen in ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament begins on June 1 in the West Indies and the United States.
