Royal Challengers Bengaluru, on Saturday (May 18), created history by becoming the first-ever team to hit 150 sixes in a T20 tournament including the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Bengaluru-based outfit achieved the feat during the game against Chennai Super Kings at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The record for hitting most sixes in an IPL season was previously held by Chennai Super Kings who had hit 145 sixes in 2018. The record was broken this season by Sunrisers Hyderabad who have hit 146 sixes so far and can become the second team after RCB to hit 150 sixes in a season. RCB, on Saturday, leapfrogged SRH in the sixes list and created history by becoming the first team to hit 150 sixes in a season.
In the first game of the season, RCB hit 6 sixes against CSK before hitting six more against Punjab Kings. In the third and fourth games, they hit 11 and 8 sixes respectively. In the fifth game against Rajasthan Royals, the Bengaluru-based outfit hit six sixes. It was followed by 11 sixes against Mumbai Indians before they smashed 16 sixes against SRH although in a losing cause.
In their following game, RCB hit 17 sixes against Kolkata Knight Riders before hitting eight sixes against SRH. RCB then hit 16 and 8 sixes in back-to-back games against Gujarat Titans. It was followed by 16 sixes against PBKS before they hit 11 sixes against Delhi Capitals. In their final league game, the Faf du Plessis-led side hit 16 sixes against CSK. Overall, they have hit 157 sixes so far.

RCB post huge total:
Talking about the game between RCB and CSK, the former have posted a huge total of 218 for 5 in 20 overs after being asked to bat. Captain Faf du Plessis led from the front and scored 54 while the likes of Virat Kohli (47), Rajat Patidar (41), and Cameron Green (39*) also played crucial cameos.
In reply, CSK were on 64 for 2 after 7 overs at the time of writing this report. CSK need to score at least 201 runs to qualify for the playoffs. On the other hand, RCB can make it to the playoffs if they restrict CSK to less than 201.
